'Psephology' - by K J S Chatrath

With the announcement of the dates of next General Elections in India, the Model Code of Conduct for Political Parties has come into force. This means that no one can come out with Opinion Polls. In a way it putting the psephologists in cold storage, or, as one would say in Hindi ठंडा बस्ता।

Let us go back one hundred years and see how 'The Hindu' dated 26th March 1919 had explained the etymology of this word: 'Psephology is a branch of political science devoted to the study of elections and voting patterns. It is derived from the Greek word psephos, which means pebbles. Ancient Greeks used to vote by dropping pebbles into jars)…. ….'.

Psephologists would be back as soon as the voting ends....

'Stop It' - by K J S Chatrath

Photo from the internet-  for representational purpose only

Demand of some Japanese employers to insist their lady employees  to wear heels to work (https://www.socialnews.xyz/2019/03/14/japanese-women-unite-against-wearing-heels-to-work/), is atrocious and does not befit a sober and progressive country like Japan.

The Japanese employers must drop this insistence.

It seems that this happens in USA & UK (that poor country in the throes of Brexit woes) too (http://fortune.com/2016/05/12/high-heels-dress-code/)... In 2015, a group of women were turned away from a film première at the Cannes Film Festival in France for wearing flat shoes. Liberty, Equality, Fraternity?  Quelle horreur!

'Dislike for cats & dogs and creativity' - by K J S Chatrath

Please do not get me wrong by seeing the above photo. No, I do not like pets-cats, dogs & the like.
But this does not stop me from appreciating creativity wherever I see it- like this photo which I took outside a shop in Antigua, Guatemala in 2018.

'Mooch' - by K J S Chatrath

Now that 'Mooch' is back in the reckoning, I dusted off my old papers and found what I was looking for! My photo above taken in 1982.

May I invite you to take a look at my photo-article on moustaches put up on the net sometime back:
