Today's The Tribune has a news item that Punjab University is thinking of inviting MHRD and UGC representatives to be part of its Bodies....

First you invite them and then you will howl about erosion of autonomy of the University....

'Counselling and all that jazz'- by K.J.S.Chatrath

Taking admission in a college/University used to be a simple affair when I first went to  college over six decades back. One could get admission to a college but to join a stream of one's choice in a college of one's choice required a reasonably good performance at the High School exam. Things have changed. Now one needs 95+ percentage marks to be able to hope for admission in any college. And one has go go through the process of receiving 'counselling'.

I used to think that there is a Board of experts comprising of psychologists, pschyo-analysts etc. which interviews the applicants and gauges his/her suitability for various streamse  based on various parameters like aptitude, performance etc. How utterly naive was I!" . How utterly naive was I!

The photo above which appeared in yesterday's 'The Tribune' has made me wiser.

Not seeing any post from me on the Facebook and on my websites & blogs for weeks together, some of my friends had started thinking that the old traveller seemed to have left on his last journey.

This is to report that I am alive and kicking and was doing what I like doing most- travelling. But where all did I go to? Greenland, Iceland and Italy.

So get ready for a barrage of posts and photos.

And my dear Fifty Plus travellers, get out of your house and travel. There is no excuse for staying indoors now that the rains are around.
