A page to share random musings... an odd butterfly fluttering around.. a rare bloom to talk about... my next trip to plan... and yes, the new maid has joined! A page belonging to an author, a traveller, a compulsive decision maker of late... do keep dropping in to catch up on some gupp-shupp with me and do be prepared to put up with some anaap-shnaap rantings too :D

Hear ye my IAS brethren....
Look what the TIME newsmagazine explained: "Brethren and sistren" occur in most anecdotes about Baptist preachers. They should occur no more. Dr. George W. Truett of Dallas, three time president of the Southern Baptist Committee, presiding last week over a conference of Southern Baptists in Memphis, Tenn., ruled that "brethren" applies alike to male and female members of the congregation.....". Incidentally it was the issue dated 20th May, 1929 of TIME that reported this!
For more details see "Religion: Women Brethren - TIME: http://content.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,723668,00.html#ixzz2pncXUng8
Of course the promised lambasting will follow soon......

Shocking & unacceptable in a secular country like India!
The plea that "the ceremonial duties demand common height, built, appearance and dress for reason of pomp and projection which are important military attributes while performing such duties" does not, by any stretch of imagination mean that persons belonging to specified religions only should be eligible.
This is shocking and unacceptable in a secular country like India.
Pappa, Pappu & Qaidi No. 624

IAS officers too must learn how to retire...and retire gracefully
Like every other service, IAS officers too must learn how to retire...and retire gracefully

IAS officers, bent backbones & post retirement jobs!
Simple. Say 'Yes' to what ever the political bosses say throughout your service career.
It will keep your backbone bent throughout your career but you may get a post-retirement job.
Those who think that they have got post retirement assignments because of their superlative efficiency and because the administration cannot be managed without them, are fooling no one!
