'Acuity and all that jazz' - by K J S Chatrath

I did not know, till a few minutes ago, that ‘acuity’ meant sharpness or keenness of thought, vision, or hearing. So I was kind of partially dumb till I looked up this word in the dictionary a few minutes back.

And what was the trigger for consulting Dr. Johnson, one might ask? Well I do not throw away old magazines till I have squeezed all that I want out of them. This morning it was an old January 23, 2006 issue of the Time newsmagazine.

While thumbing through it, I got stuck at the article ‘What’s so great about acuity?’ by 43 year old Walter Kirn (http://content.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1147171,00.html). And why am I mentioning the age of the writer, one is likely to ask? It will become clearer once you go through the article.

The bottom line of this piece is “It’s not what one can do that matters but what is worth doing”.

Touche’!
