'Getting used to recognition of talent' - by K.J.S.Chatrath

When I first received an email from the Hon'ble Prime Minister's Office, I was foxed. Then came the email from Hon'ble Minister Railways. I was worried. Why me, I asked myself?

Today I have received another email- this time from Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minsiter of Petroleum & Natural Gas wishing me on the occassion of the Republic Day.

No, I am no longer foxed or worried. In fact I am happy and getting used to the fact that my talent is being recognised.....

'Message from the Hon'ble Minister Railways' - K.J.S.Chatrath

Today I have received an email message from the Hon'ble Minister Railways, and I quote verbatim:

“Do not hang off the doors while travelling in the train” ….. "ज़िन्दगी  मौत ना बन जाये, सम्भालो  यारो" .

Why does the Hon’ble Minister think that I, at 74+ years, would hang off the doors while travelling in train?

I do not know how to react. I am totally foxed, to say the least.

'Spectacular show by lady officers uof the BSF on Rajpath'

The lady officers fof the BSF put up a spectacular show on their motor cycles on the Rajpath on 26 January. The sheer precision was amazing.

However there are two issues which make me uneasy (I) Did this show on bikes not take away from the solemnity of the occasion as it appear to be a show of acrobatics, and (ii) Did such multiple driving on bikes on a public road not contravene the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act & Rules?

'A genuine fake' by - K.J.S.Chatrath

I recently bumped into this gentleman. Straight forward and undiplomatic that I am, I told him what I thought of his so called acting prowess.

He smiled benignly and walked away, totally ignoring my barb.

Alas! It is a genuine 'fake'. I had gone to Marina Beach Chennai, last week and got a photo taken at   an open air photo stall with a cut-out of Shah Rukh Khan. Rs. Fifty is what I paid for it.

And what is true is that I rate him very poorly as an actor.

'Alas! Delhi would never be the same again' - by K.J.S.Chatrath

I say this with lot of sadness that Delhi, including New Delhi would never be the same again.

One has been complaining about traffic congestion and terrible pollution in Delhi. But wait for what is in store for Delhi-ites.

National Building Construction Corpn. is going to build a huge, yes really huge World Trade Centre in the very heart of New Delhi on the Ring Road on the orders of Government. It would be bang opposite the AIMS and Safdarjung Hospitals. It appears that the plan is to have 12 Towers of commercial space, each Tower having 10 floors.

Just imagine the pollution that the added traffic would add to already gasping for breath Delhi! And traffic would see many fold increase in congestion.

On the one hand one talks about de-congesting Delhi and on the other hand we have this. Even if this Centre has to be in Delhi, why not in Dwarka or Janakpuri or Rohini areas, for example.

It is a really sad development  ....
