"Cricket- the real 'anaap-shnaap' game" by K.J.S.Chatrath

Getting ready to see the T-20 Finals this evening? And why not? After all it is our national madness.

Now, here is a real anaap-shnaap one.

Football, perhaps the most popular game on earth has strict rules about the dimensions of the ground where the game is played. And so has hockey. And so have tennis, badminton and table tennis.

But what are the standard dimensions of a cricket filed? None. It can be long and not so long, broad and not so broad, oval or even egg shaped. Only the pitch has to be of 22 yards length.

What is the reason?

Dont ask me? Ask the British. They claim to have invented the game!
