'Common man wants daal-roti at affordable price' - by K.J.S.Chatrath

Sensex goes up and the rich are happy.

Price of 'daal' goes up and the common man is shaken though the horders/blackmarteteers are happy and even though the poor farmer does not get a remunerative fair price.

I went to buy some 'daals' this week. When I asked for urad dhuli daal as one of the daals, the shopkeeper gently cautioned me saying that it was expensive. I persisted. I realised how right he was when he gave me the bill. Rs.110/- for 500gms or Rs.220 per kilo!

'On baldies advertising hair oils' - by K.J.S.Chatrath


At 73+, I have many unfulfilled desires. One of the major ones has been not having a head full of grey hair. I have always found thick grey hair on the  head, both in gentlemen and in ladies, to be so graceful and classy.

I started loosing hair a few years back and now I am very close to becoming a full fledged  'ganju' (baldy). So the dream has no chance of fulfillment as I do not like putting on a wig.

And talking about wigs, I find one of the ads on the TV so very pathetic. It shows a star, who by all accounts is bald and wears a wig, vigorously advertising for the use of a particular hair oil! Sir, use a wig by all means, but then advertising for a hair oil looks so very unconvincing and bizarre!

Going back into history when I did have a head full of hair, one of the popular songs was Johny Walker enacted 'champi' (head massage)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJiohcg-gKo

Alas, alas!

I did not take the message seriously and neglected giving a vigorous 'champi'  regularly to my hair on the head.
